Your Personal Sphere Of Influence
The Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Vienna not only covers a wide range of topics in the core areas of computer science, but also in its fields of application. One aim is to strengthen the disciplinary core of the Faculty of Computer Science in order to successfully develop interdisciplinary links and make valuable contributions to current and future challenges in both research and teaching.

The TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning) working group at the Faculty of Computer Science researches and develops methods, techniques, theories and applications in the context of technology-enhanced learning and learner-centredness in order to make learning more sustainable, engaging and effective. In addition to subject-specific skills, communicative, social, digital and interdisciplinary competences will be deepened and the integration of AI-supported tools into teaching and learning will be researched.

This call for applications creates a university assistant position (Praedoc, 6 months fixed-term) at the Faculty of Computer Science, EDEN (Education, Didactics and Entertainment Computing) research group, TEL working group, which is linked to a doctoral programme and the finalisation of a dissertation in the field of research into processes for teaching digital skills in teacher training and secondary education.

Your Future Tasks
You are actively involved in research, teaching and administration, which means:

  • You will contribute to scientific studies.
  • We expect you to complete your dissertation within 6 months.
  • You will work on your dissertation and its completion within the EDEN research group.
  • You will write and participate in publications and give public lectures.
  • You will give independent lectures in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement and supervise students.
  • You will be involved in the application for and realisation of projects.
  • You will be involved in evaluation measures and quality assurance.
  • You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching.
  • You will be involved in the organisation of meetings, conferences and symposia.

This Is Part Of Your Personality

  • Completed teacher training programme with computer science as a teaching subject
  • Interdisciplinary orientation and willingness to work across disciplines
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Educational technologies, digital competence frameworks, digital literacy, technology-enhanced learning, learner-centred teaching, educational standards, AI and ethics.
  • Didactic competences and experience in the school subject "Digital Basic Education"
  • Own teaching experience at secondary level
  • Methodological skills in the field of qualitative and quantitative research
  • Interest in helping to shape the digital and social transformation in education
  • Very good written and spoken English and German skills
  • IT skills
  • Team competence as well as high social and communication skills

Desirable Qualifications Are

  • Basic knowledge and interest in ethics and educational technologies
  • Experience with digital competency frameworks and AI in education
  • Teaching experience in secondary education and university teaching
  • Scientific publications
  • Excellent knowledge of English (C1)
