Engineering Tech Lead

About The Role
This is a senior role in our team as a Tech Lead Platform you will part of the Support/MLOps Engineering Team that supports many of the Optum/UHG Analytic organisations. The team focus is on increasing our operational maturity, managing compliance and vulnerabilities and building on solutions through automation and emerging technologies. The Lead Platform Engineer will collaborate closely with the Healthcare Economics (HCE) business group in Ireland to provide technical leadership and expertise. The goal is to help HCE migrate their legacy analytic tech stack to a new, more modern solution that will provide them with better opportunities for growth. This role is significant for HCE's strategic growth and the Lead Platform Engineer will play a crucial role in helping them achieve their objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the MLOps/Devops Team and add to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
• Technical Leadership, coaching & mentoring with experience designing, planning and building technical solutions at scale.
• Extensive Experience working with and supporting container Orchestration leveraging Kubernetes via Helm and Gitops Model with automated Observability Integration and Metrics.
• Automated Container release management and deployment models via pipelines.
• Exposure to Automated pipelines, Agile and Devops best practices incorporating security and deployments to large scale cloud and data centre environments via API’s or similar.
• Exposure Python or similar coding languages using SDLC.
• Maintaining and supporting Linux servers Infrastructure via code with tooling such as Terraform, Ansible.
• Azure cloud exposure deploying either software or models at scale via automated process.
• Ensure integration of multiple analytic platforms to make our data science toolkit easier to work with for end users.
• Starburst Trino, DataBricks, MLflow and Snowflake exposure with SQL Query or Database experience.
• Provide guidance on best practices and frameworks in areas of automation, security, workload placement, release and change management
• Provide technical Leadership and Support for HCE Infrastructure Platforms.
• Provide hands on support to our Data Scientist and Data Engineer users. Self-motivated, resourceful, creative, innovative, results driven, and adaptable with solid problem solving and analytical skills.
• Experience presenting to senior leadership and technical groups on solutions and designs.

Required Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• Experience with Linux system administration and support experience in an enterprise IT, service provider organization
• Experience building docker containers, Supporting Kubernetes environment, Helm Charts
• Building and maintaining Automated Pipelines via Code (github actions)
• Proficient with a scripting language (Bash, R, Python)
• Experience with Apache Spark and other distributed computing solutions
• Experience with Github / Gitlab

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient understanding of R and R package management
• Experience working with Data science and analytics technologies and tooling
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt learning into successful implementations
• Self-motivated, resourceful, creative, innovative, results driven, and adaptable with solid problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
• Working in an Agile/Scrum Environment
