Job Description

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Technology (IMT), the Enterprise Technology group supporting all business functions under Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting Product Owner, Data Modeler within our Data & Insights Product Group supporting JJIM 
Commercial Pharma business. This position’s primary location will be in Beerse (Antwerp) 
Belgium. Alternative locations are Italy, Germany, UK, France and Spain.

Join us in shaping the future of data modeling and elevating the overall quality of our product solutions as a Data Modeler. The overall objective of this new position is to increase the maturity level of the entire Data & Insight Product Group on data modeling best practices throughout the lifecycle of a data product on the Ensemble platform. The role will lead by example and establish processes enforcing Product Squads to follow modeling best practices yielding higher data quality and fostering adoption of our Ensemble landscape. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the data modeling process for our data management product. Your primary responsibilities will include defining data modeling solutions aligned with product requirements, leading the practice with the Product teams, and fostering a culture of quality.

Key Activities 
To excel in this role, we are seeking individuals with a passion for data modeling whose main roles & responsibilities will be to

  • Shape the Process: drive the process of data modeling for EMEA Pharma Commercial Data & Insights platform in a decentralized squad model, ensuring efficient and effective practices are in place; establish standards to enhance end-to-end data traceability 
  • Elevate Quality: define data modeling solutions that align with product requirements and collaborate closely with Product teams to enhance the overall level of quality 
  • Optimize Data Structures: ensure optimal implementation of data structures and data flows, particularly when incorporating local users (from operational companies), while following data-mesh concepts 
  • Maintain Holistic Data Organization: keep an end-to-end view of data organization in the data warehouse, considering business usage as a top priority 
  • Share Knowledge & Expertise: possess critical knowledge and expertise in data modeling principles, techniques, and emerging trends that should be shared and infused within the organization 
  • Foster Adoption of the Federated model: ensure simplified and intuitive data model design to foster adoption by business power users 

You will mainly collaborate with Product Technical Product Owner/Analysts, product 
engineers and business stakeholders. The Data Modeler reports into the Data Management TPM (Technology Product Manager). 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data management, or a related discipline 
  • Several years of experience in technology development (products) 
  • Strong proficiency in data modeling concepts, methodologies, and best practices is essential. This includes knowledge of entity-relationship modeling, dimensional modeling and data modeling tools 
  • Proficiency in analyzing business requirements and translating them into effective data models is vital. This involves identifying business entities, relationships, attributes, and constraints to create conceptual, logical and physical data models 
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with database management systems 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities to assess complex data requirements, identify inefficiencies, and propose solutions to optimize data structures 
  • Eagerness to stay updated with emerging trends, new technologies, and best practices is key 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are crucial for effectively collaborating  with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, developers, and data scientists. The ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is a must 
  • Agile development experience, SDLC methodology, risk management including  information security. Solid understanding of JIRA. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in technology preferred
  • Experience with DevOps is preferred
  • Adept in Commercial Pharmaceutical data sets
  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry is beneficial
