Data Scientist I, Operations Optimization Analytics

In doing so, you will contribute to positively impact our Traveler’s experience and ensure that they build great memories from the trips they take with Expedia Group.

As a Data Scientist I, you will be responsible to drive the improvement of many different areas within the operations of the account management team, for example through the analysis of A/B testing, or exploratory deep dives into account manager behaviors. You will also leverage data coming from demand trends, booking behaviors and internal initiatives to improve a set of dashboards empowering Account Managers with the adequate level of insights to make the best strategic and operational decision on how to approach conversations with hotel partners. To do so, you will build a relationship of trust with Account Management stakeholders and will have the opportunity to produce and deliver insights to leaders.

You will develop state-of-the-art data products, monitor operational metrics, market trends, and proactively provide recommendations on how to leverage the analytical insights. What you’ll do:

• Use your creativity and commercial acumen to frame business challenges as analytical problems and apply problem solving techniques to break it down into concrete set of analytical tasks
• Extract data from multiple data sources and combine them into the required datasets
• Apply advanced analytics techniques and statistical knowledge to deliver insights supporting decision-making of account management stakeholders
• Articulate decision-making rationale, methodology and recommendation to both technical and non-technical partners, using clear and compelling storytelling in presentations
• Create and maintain a set of dashboards surfacing relevant information for Account Managers to prepare conversations with external partners
• Partner closely with your Analytics peers, as well as Operational Excellence, Machine Learning Science and Product & Tech to ensure best practice sharing, drive automation and technology simplification

Who you are:

• Bachelor's, Master's or Equivalent Experience; Mathematics, Science, Statistics or Technical degree preferred otherwise relevant experience is applicable
• Applied knowledge of SQL and familiar with Python, R, or any other major programming language
• Data visualization skills and first experience using tools like Tableau/Power BI/…
• Bias for action and ability to function independently with minimal direction
