Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Analytics Engineer to join our growing data engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in designing, developing, and maintaining Looker dashboards and explores. This role requires a deep understanding of Looker's capabilities and a strong ability to translate complex business requirements into effective data visualizations. Experience with BigQuery and dbt is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Looker dashboards, explores, and data models to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain Looker data models, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and performance.
  • Write efficient and well-documented LookML code.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Looker dashboards and explores.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our Looker platform and processes.
  • Work closely with other members of the data engineering team to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Proactively identify and address potential performance bottlenecks in Looker.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Looker features and best practices.
  • Manage code using Git version control, including branching, merging, and pull requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Looker, including designing and developing dashboards and explores.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into effective data visualizations.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and best practices.
  • Experience with BigQuery and dbt is a plus.
  • Experience with Git version control systems (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Looker Expertise Requirements

  • Extensive experience in LookML development, including creating custom visualizations and calculations.
  • Deep understanding of Looker's data modeling capabilities, including joins, aggregations, and calculated fields.
  • Experience with Looker's security and access control features.
  • Proficiency in using Looker's explore functionality to perform ad-hoc data analysis.
  • Experience with Looker's scheduling and alerting features.
  • Experience optimizing Looker dashboards and explores for performance.
  • Experience with Looker's API and integrations with other tools.
